Diabetes is a chronic disease that is increasing in prevalence. Disease care processes are recorded within the National Diabetes Audit (NDA) on an annual basis. While the NDA reflects on target achievement, it does not address difficulties that may be faced by healthcare professionals working in the community.
The Primary Care Diabetes Society has devised a survey to look at mechanism, process and confidence in the management of diabetes in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It is hoped that the survey will help to answer the question of why targets can be difficult to attain.
I would like to invite and encourage primary care health professionals to participate in this survey. We hope that your input will highlight difficulties that you may be facing, but also that your comments and examples will provide evidence of good practice that can be shared.
The survey data will be collated by the PCDS Committee and published in a State of the Nations report to help raise awareness within the political communities of ways in which primary care can be supported to help in the promotion of good health in people with diabetes.
Please help us to support and represent primary care as the principle place for diabetes management by clicking on the link provided below and completing the survey. All of your comments will be anonymised.
