A highly-anticipated update to the NICE guidelines for management of type 2 diabetes in adults was released just two months ago. But how have the recommendations for care changed? What are the implications for healthcare professionals in primary care? And most importantly, what does this mean for people living with diabetes?
Now available on-demand, “SMART Update – NG28 – NICE Guidance,” originally broadcast on Tuesday 5th July at 6.30pm-8pm, where our experienced panel of primary care speakers summarise how the latest guidelines differ from past iterations, and the significance of the changes on the diabetes care you provide. The guidelines were discussed by a multidisciplinary panel of speakers with years of experience of managing the unique pressures and challenges of primary care: Hannah Beba (Consultant Pharmacist in Diabetes, Leeds), Jane Diggle (Specialist Diabetes Nurse Practitioner), and Dr Stephen Lawrence (GP with Special Interest, Kent; Associate Clinical Professor, Warwick University Medical School). Beyond examining how the update compares to guidelines in current use in primary care, the panel also offer practical guidance on how to implement the changes in your everyday practice.
