Gum Health Day 2017 set to take place on Friday 12 May

As part of the British Society of Periodontology’s Strategic Plan, to engage with the public and raise awareness of the importance of periodontal health, this year’s Gum Health Day campaign will focus on raising awareness amongst people with diabetes of their increased risk of periodontal disease.

Gum Health Day is an initiative of the European Federation of Periodontology to involve as many national societies as possible in promoting periodontal health.  This year’s slogan is “Fighting Periodontal Disease Together”.

As part of the British Society of Periodontology’s Strategic Plan, to engage with the public and raise awareness of the importance of periodontal health, this year’s Gum Health Day campaign will focus on raising awareness amongst people with diabetes of their increased risk of periodontal disease.  The campaign is a joint venture between the British Society of Periodontology (BSP) and diabetes.co.uk, which is an online patient forum for people with diabetes with over 500,000 members and a database of 10,000 healthcare professionals.

All members of the healthcare professions are encouraged, by whatever means, to participate in this campaign.  Please talk to your patients, colleagues and friends   and publicise the campaign through your websites, newsletters and on social media at #gumhealthuk.
