Flying With Diabetes Day aims to be one of the UK’s most inspirational and educational events for children and adults with insulin-treated diabetes. The event will include talks by “Flying with diabetes” record-setting pilots with type 1 diabetes and sports people with type 1 diabetes including former Team Type 1 professional cyclist, Kyle Rose. A talk on Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)-supported research into preventing diabetes will also be given by a leading medical researcher.
Attendees will be able to learn about diabetes-related products at the company exhibit table during breaks, while “Mad Science” will provide entertainment for younger children. Refreshments and lunch will be provided throughout the day. JDRF will be featured at the event, with opportunities for attendees to make donations.
The event is being held at the Duxford Imperial War Museum on the 12th October 2013. Duxford Imperial War Museum is the UK’s premier aviation museum, with attendees able to view historic aircraft on display and have the chance to walk through the cabin of a Concorde supersonic aircraft.
