ISPAD COVID-19 recommendations

Recommendations regarding COVID-19 in children with diabetes

An international position statement was released on 19th March by ISPAD in relation to coronavirus and children and young people with diabetes. It covers:

  • How to contain the pandemic and prevent the infection
  • Whether children and young people with diabetes should attend school
  • What to tell patients with symptoms
  • How to control diabetes during illness
  • When to obtain specialist advice with possible referral to emergency care
