Foot Journal

News from FDUK

Since its establishment, Foot in Diabetes UK (FDUK) has actively campaigned for the improvement of the care of people with diabetic foot disease.

Who we are
Established as Podiatry in Diabetes UK (PDUK) in 2003, the group formed in response to the need for support for UK-based healthcare professionals specialising in the management of diabetic foot disease. To reflect the multidisciplinary nature of those involved in the care of the diabetic foot, the name was changed to FDUK in 2004.

From an initial membership of less than 100, FDUK now has in excess of 2000 members including community and diabetes specialist podiatrists, physicians, podiatric and vascular surgeons, orthotists and ward, community, tissue viability and diabetes specialist nurses.

What we do
FDUK aims to be an active national voice in diabetic foot care for the healthcare professionals who deliver that care. This mandate spans the provision of educational activities, sitting on national guideline development groups, lobbying in health policy and providing a forum for discussion of both clinical and workforce issues for members.

FDUK is proud to announce its new Executive Committee:
President: Dr Mike Edmonds, London
Chair: Paul Chadwick, Salford
Co-Chair: Alistair McInnes, Brighton
Secretary: Catherine Gooday, Norwich
Treasurer: Louise Morris, Manchester
Member representative: Joanne McCardle, Edinburgh
Nurse representative: Rachel Berrington, Leicester
Scottish representative: Duncan Stang, Lanarkshire
Welsh representative: Ros Thomas
