This first-ever EU screening week campaign is asking people to check key health indicators, including blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol.
The campaign was launched at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting in Milan on World Heart Day, alongside the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), and European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO), and calls for an emphasis on prevention and earlier detection.
This awareness campaign is an important part of the European Commission’s EU Safe Hearts Plan, which aims to reduce premature cardiovascular deaths by 25% by 2035.
For diabetes teams, the initiative reinforces the importance of identifying and managing cardiovascular risk alongside diabetes and obesity.
